AT&T Online Teaching Award 2012

In Becoming ruminative in education on August 16, 2012 at 12:17 PM

I have learned recently that one of the online courses I was involved in teaching is awarded “Faculty-Staff Instructional Technology Award” by AT&T. With my experience teaching online for the past few years, I have come to understand the affordances and constraints in teaching online versus those of teaching face-to-face. Constructing an user-friendly learning environment online without the readily available non-verbal cues in F2F communications poses challenges to all online educators. Incorporating social media or gaming elements into course management systems will be new ways to think about or delineate online education.  The award is an encouragement for me and there is still a long way ahead of me.

The hype of the ongoing London Olympics has come a small step closer to us, probably the less athletic ones. BBC News UK came up with an interesting application to tell you which athlete your build matches up to. I turned out to be a soccer player from Argentina and what does that tell me? Pick up a new sport in soccer?! Give the below link a try and see who you measure up against!
